Social Media Continued
It’s interesting to find out how many providers of social media services are out there. And to read some of the articles you can google about what to expect from these providers and how much they can cost.
I’ve found a PR Lab at Boston University that seems promising, but they’re filled up with customers for the fall semester. They encouraged me to apply again for the winter 2022 semester, which might fit my schedule very well.
Meanwhile I’ll be talking to other providers for my immediate needs, which I cannot tell you that I understand at this point. Talking to people should help me define what I want, but the big question is whether any provider, no matter how skillful, can really help me build awareness for my upcoming novel, which I plan to self-publish in spring 2022.
Until now, I’ve had absolutely no presence on social media. Even in a full year’s time, can any third party provider build the presence that I would need to sell more than a few books? Or is building such a presence something I needed to start doing years ago?
Perhaps I’ll need to push back my publication date another year, and spend more time – and money – doing what needs to be done. I think I’m prepared to make the investment. It would mean a lot to me to find an audience for one of my novels, at long last.
How much will it cost? We’ll see. And how much difference will any amount of money really make? I may not know until I actually spend the money.
