Women are making a difference

Last month, the women of Philadelphia staged a big celebration for the 100th anniversary of winning the right to vote. Of course, they had to stage it online. I wish I could have been there to cheer them on.

More than ever, women are making a difference. So many are running for political office in 2020. This month, I’m writing postcards for a candidate for State Senator in Pennsylvania.

Women are in the forefront of change in this country, which is nothing new, as I know from my research for my novels. The difference is that so many women are involved, and that this year, their activism could make all the difference.

It shouldn’t take a woman to understand that our caregiving community needs help. That all the women and men who spending their working lives caring for others need better wages and working conditions. But women seem to get it more and faster than we men do.

Let’s hope 2020 will be the year that women make all the difference in the world. And that more of us men start to wise up to the things that women have known for centuries.
