Books: Faster Moving than TV

Am I the first person to ever say this? Books move faster than TV. I can’t imagine that other people have not noticed this, too. It’s not just that when I’m reading, I can skip over endless paragraphs of description whenever a novel I’m reading feels padded. It’s not just that.

Books just move faster for me than television. There’s so much happening in a good book that most TV or movies just do not provide. Even the fact that I can reread a passage that I like, or read it as slowly as I like, somehow feels more satisfying to me than having to absorb everything at the pace that a television show demands.

Other than that, I cannot explain it. I feel really fortunate that books give me a richer and more satisfying experience than most TV. I’ve certainly realized it more than ever during our stay at home times.

For me, books not only plow deeper, they move faster. Being able to choose my own pace for moving, even if that means slowing down, works better for me.

Am I the only person who feels this way?
