Simple Pleasures

One good thing that I hope will come out of this pandemic is that we all, myself included, learn to appreciate the simple pleasures that we often take for granted: meeting with friends, taking a long walk, cooking a good meal for yourself and others, and of course, reading.

A company that helps to market me first novel, A FALSE DAWN, recently asked if I would make it available online, for users to download and enjoy as an e-book, since so many people are stuck at home and will be looking for books to read. They would be getting it free. I was glad to agree. I’d like to think people who might otherwise never hear about my book are now reading it. I’m not worried about the money.

Reading is the most wonderful thing. I’ve got a huge stack of books I’ve been meaning to get through, and now I’m doing it. And so many of the books I’ve enjoyed I plan to read again because a truly fine book is worth re-reading, often several times. I can’t tell you how many books I’ve done that with.

Simple pleasures. Thank heaven we have them. I for one am not going to take them for granted. Not after this experience.
