Loving the Process

I’m working on SUNRISING, the sequel to my first novel, and I’m loving it. I’m getting lots of feedback from friends whose editorial opinions I value, and it’s making the new book so much more enjoyable to write than the first book.

You have to love the process when you’re a writer. Because sometimes that’s the only satisfaction — immediate or long term – that you’re going to get. My first novel, A FALSE DAWN, went over really well with readers, but not many people have read it yet. I give my historical speeches at libraries, I do my blog site, and still it’s hard to find an audience. That’s the way it is.

But no one can ever take away all the satisfaction and joy I’ve gained from doing the writing, on both books. There are moments in the process, especially with the new book, when I can actually step outside myself and say, “It doesn’t get any better than this.”

I hope this joy means that the new book will be good, in fact, better than the first one. Whatever happens, I am loving the process.
