One Person Makes a Difference
If you’ve seen the movie HARRIET, you’ll know what an amazing woman Harriet Tubman was. I didn’t realize that, among her many accomplishments, she was one of the few women in U.S. history to lead soldiers into battle, which she did during the Civil War.
Individual women and men are still standing up for what they believe in, and they’re more necessary than ever. We may not be fighting a Civil War, but Americans are still sharply divided on how to move this country forward. Sometimes, victory goes to the loudest.
But when it seems like the world belongs to the big-mouths and the bullshitters, that’s when we all really need people of conscience to step forward and say, Enough bluster. It’s time to bring truth to the table.
In my lectures, I’m constantly talking about women who’ve stepped forward to make their beliefs known and then act on their beliefs. In so doing, I hope I can inspire listeners to realize that the best time to rise up and find your voice, on anything that matters to you, is always NOW.
I’d like to feel as if I’m doing my part, but I know I could do more. This next year, I will. That’s my promise to everyone I love and care about, and to myself.
